Today's Photo of the Day features Western Australia's Matt James exiting the Springmount Raceway burnout pad in UNWANTED, his blown Holden VF Commodore Ute, after finishing his final skid at Northern Nats 2018. Matt ended up taking home second place for the weekend as well as winning the power skid competition on the drag strip. Scoring for Northern Nats is more of an endurance event than most burnout competitions, with entrants having to complete three skids over three days and their score being the total score for all three attempts. Add to that the particular conditions at Springmount Raceway which, at an elevation of approximately 400 metres (or 1300 feet) above sea level, has air a little thinner than at most of Australia's burnout pads, and scoring well at Northern Nats is no mean feat.
