Dinner at Cabin 401

Lori and I met up with Ken and Mel for dinner at Cabin 401 last night. Cabin 401 overlooks one of the ice rinks at the Cockburn Ice Arena and has one of the best craft beer selections in Perth.

We have eaten here before, so we knew the food was going to be good, and they didn't dissapoint. The craft beer selection here is just getting better and better, with 12 taps of quality offerings, mostly local brews and one of the most impressive ranges of cans I've seen for a while.

Lori's cocktail of choice for the night was their Toblerone and the presentation was perfect. I'm told it tasted pretty good too, but I wasn't allowed anywhere near it to find out for myself. Good food as expected and an awesome craft beer and cocktail offering kept us all happy. I had a Cheeky Monkey Session Stout, Nowhereman Rhapsody XPA and the Phat Brew Club Phat N Juicy seen here.

On the food front, I went with the Philly Cheese Steak Hoagie and Lori went for the special of the night, 3 Fish Taco's for $10. We also had some fried pickles and poutine to share for the table.

2022 Avon Descent Festival at Lilac Hill

Today Lori, Mikah, Lachelle and myself headed out to Lilac Hill park to meet up with some of the guys from Lori's work and their families. There were rides and games for the kids and while this stretch of the river may not be the most exciting part of the Descent course, it's a pretty good spot to sit back and watch the boats come through, either with a picnic, or something from one of the many food trucks in attendance.

Elephant Rocks Pano Print Update

I've moved the Elephant Rocks photo to another wall in our house, moving one of Lori's favourite paintings in the process (sorry @taniawrayart - I stole the sweet spot in the house, but I'm sure it won't be for long).

Just a reminder, these are available over on the ko-fi website for $440 each, or you can send me a DM on here to order. Every cent goes towards a long overdue upgrade for the camera body - not a cheap process, so every sale helps, whether it's a small download from HighOctanePhotos.com or a big print like one of these.

2022 Perth Motorplex Winter Heat

Last Sunday, July 10th, saw the first running of the Perth Motorplex's Winter Heat events. These are a similar format to the popular Whoop Ass Wednesday's that run over the regular season, but set on a Sunday during the drag racing off season. Unfortunately I missed the racing part of the day as we had spent the night in Fremantle for a birthday party the night before and spent the morning catching up with mates before heading home, and by the time I got to the track the weather had put a stop to racing. The Motorplex crew made several attempts to dry the track, but in the end there was only enough time under clear skies to run the burnouts.

You can check out the full gallery of photos over on my main website and a few of my favourites below.

The photos used on this blog are available for sale, just click on the photo to get to the main website where you can see more photos as well as purchasing any you'd like to get a copy of.

Perth City Skyline Panorama

I reckon it has been around 10 to 15 years since I last went out and took some long exposure shots of the Perth city skyline, so tonight, after Lori headed off to work, I packed up the gear and headed out to get a couple of shots. I have a whole heap of these to work through, but here's a quick stitch of the last 2 photos I took tonight, a pair of 2 minute exposures of our city at night.
