Today's Photo of the Day is a long time favourite of mine. This shot, from the 2010 ANRA Summer Nationals at Bakersfield's Famoso Dragway, is one of the few shots I've had printed and mounted for myself, and hangs in my office at home.

Today's photo is the Mooneyes Dragster. I was lucky enough to see this car at Mooneyes USA in 2010 and it's just winding up a tour of Australia at the moment. This photo was taken yesterday at the Claremont Showgrounds at the 2018 WA Hot Rod and Street Machine Spectacular.

This photo is a throwback to the Southern California Timing Association's (SCTA) Bonneville Speed Week in 2010, and one of the hundreds of cool cars and hot rods that took to the salt as racers, support vehicles and spectators.

Today's Photo of the Day post is a throwback to 2009. I was in California, visiting the San Francisco Bay area, and spotted this sign on Treasure Island, amongst other things, a former Naval training base. The "Genetic Reclamation Area" may not have been real, but wandering the streets of this semi-abandoned site, it certainly felt like it fitted. It also seemed only natural to position my old Cadillac belonged in the background of the shot as well.

March 4th, 2018. Australian Doorslammer driver Paul Mouhayet taking a breather before the first round of racing at the MacTrack Westernationals at Perth Motorplex, Paul would go on to with the meeting, defeating John Zappia in the final. Fast forward to the end of the season, just over 3 months later, and Paul defeats Zappia, the 11 time Australian champion, in the second round of eliminations at the season ending Winternationals at Willowbank to take the season title in one of the closest seasons we've seen for some time. Coming into the meeting, John held a 16 point lead over Paul, meaning that, barring any Low ET and Top Qualifier bonus points, Paul needed to win one more race than John to take the title. Lining up to face off in the second round of eliminations put each team in control of their own destiny, with the race being all tied up at the 1/8th mile before John drifted a bit too close to the wall and had to back off.
