Warung Coconut Tree - Sanur, Bali

Warung Coconut Tree is one of our favourite little warungs in Sanur, owned by the same crew as Warung Little Bird, another great little warung. Both are on Jalang Danau Tamblingan with Coconut Tree beeing a little more central than Little Bird.
The food here is mostly Indonesian and seems to my Western palate to be quite authentic. Pair it with a Bintang, some juice or maybe some arak depending on your tastes.
Little Bird has a bit of a reggae / surfer vibe, and Coconut Tree pushes that a bit further, with a tribute to Bob Marley in the back of the dining room.
The photos here date back to pre-COVID days, 2019 to be precise, and since the pandemic Warung Coconut Tree has moved across the road to a new location. We're hanging out for a chance to get back to Bali and check out their new location.

Dinner at Cabin 401

Lori and I met up with Ken and Mel for dinner at Cabin 401 last night. Cabin 401 overlooks one of the ice rinks at the Cockburn Ice Arena and has one of the best craft beer selections in Perth.

We have eaten here before, so we knew the food was going to be good, and they didn't dissapoint. The craft beer selection here is just getting better and better, with 12 taps of quality offerings, mostly local brews and one of the most impressive ranges of cans I've seen for a while.

Lori's cocktail of choice for the night was their Toblerone and the presentation was perfect. I'm told it tasted pretty good too, but I wasn't allowed anywhere near it to find out for myself. Good food as expected and an awesome craft beer and cocktail offering kept us all happy. I had a Cheeky Monkey Session Stout, Nowhereman Rhapsody XPA and the Phat Brew Club Phat N Juicy seen here.

On the food front, I went with the Philly Cheese Steak Hoagie and Lori went for the special of the night, 3 Fish Taco's for $10. We also had some fried pickles and poutine to share for the table.

2022 Avon Descent Festival at Lilac Hill

Today Lori, Mikah, Lachelle and myself headed out to Lilac Hill park to meet up with some of the guys from Lori's work and their families. There were rides and games for the kids and while this stretch of the river may not be the most exciting part of the Descent course, it's a pretty good spot to sit back and watch the boats come through, either with a picnic, or something from one of the many food trucks in attendance.
