Photo of the Day - August 3rd, 2018

Today's Photo of the Day features the Death Valley Ranch, also known as Scotty's Castle, in Death Valley, California. Currently closed to the public after flash floods in October 2015 closed the access road and damaged some rooms, construction of the ranch began in 1922.

The National Park Service has more information on Scotty's Castle on their website.

Photo of the Day - August 2nd, 2018

The Photo of the Day for today comes from New Zealand. This is the crater of Mount Eden, shot at dawn with the city of Auckland in the background. Mount Eden is one of a number of dormant volcanoes in the Auckland region and in my opinion, one of the best places to watch the sunrise over the city.

Photo of the Day - August 1st, 2018

The Photo of the Day today is Richard and Mike Collison's 1950 Buick Straight Eight, at the SCTA's Bonneville SpeedWeek 2010. This car was built with a little help from Gary Hart and sponsored by DIYAutoTune.com. The teams SpeedWeek 2010 campaign was cut short by a couple of holes in the block courtesy of the number 2 con rod. As you can see here, this is one beautiful race car, and hopefully still ready to race, although I can't find any mention of it on the salt much after 2010.
