San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge

As the end of the WA drag racing season approaches (tonight is the final Whoop Ass Wednesday for 3 months, and all other racing wound up a few weeks ago), I start looking back on some of the other photos I've taken over the years.

In August 2009, I was in San Francisco, California, and I was intent on getting "the shot" of San Francisco's famous Golden Gate Bridge. In the evening of the 31st of August, I was at Fort Point, at the Southern end of the bridge. As all Californian National Parks are closed an hour after sunset, I knew we didn't have much time on site before we would be asked to leave. As it turned out, once the camera was set up on the tripod, I had time to shoot 8 shots, at increasing exposures. This was the sixth image in the sequence, with a 2 minute exposure, and as it turned out, the next two images would feature the police car that turned up to sweep the area, and eventually, kick us out.

After returning home, I had this shot printed on a 32 inch by 20 inch stretched canvas, and hung it in my living room. Several years later, this is still one of my favourite photos, I see it every day and most days I will sit and wonder when I will return to explore this city some more. As with all of my photos, this one is available for sale in a wide range of prints through the online store.

Home from Bali

Well, Lori and I have been home for a little over a week now, and I've been back at work, back at the track, busy editing photos and catching up with family.. Somewhere in all that, I've tried to have a look through the photos from Bali.. While we were away, I made an effort to write a few words every day, and I'm going to try to post up a few more posts from the trip over the next couple of days, or maybe weeks..

Look Out Bali, Here We Come

Tomorrow morning, Lori and I are flying out to Bali for a few days rest and relaxation. So of course, being me, I just had to get up this morning and snap a shot of the same flight heading out today. I'll post up a few photos on here during the trip.

Over the Other Side

Last night I had the opportunity to take my partner, Lori, and my daughter, Mikah, to the Perth Motorplex for the rescheduled Silver Cup and Demo Derby meeting, initially set to be run on Easter Sunday, the meeting was rescheduled after heavy rains prevented any chance of running the event on the original date. While I was there to watch and enjoy the racing, I couldn't resist the temptation to throw some long glass and a converter on the 1D-X, bump the ISO way way up and see what I could do, so here are a few of those photos.

2016 Good Friday Burnouts

I'm sorting through the photos from the 2016 Good Friday Burnout King at Perth Motorplex this week, so here are a few teaser shots. This years event was an opportunity for entrants to secure invites to both the Red Centre Nats and the Masters at Summernats, which tempted several east coast cars to come and play.
